AI Usage Policy
1. Permitted Uses
The use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in manuscript preparation is permitted on a limited basis under the following conditions:
a. Copy-editing purposes
AI may be used to assist in technical language refinement, including:
- Grammar correction
- Improvement of writing style
- Formatting adjustments
b. Data analysis and interpretation
AI may be used in data analysis and interpretation, provided that:
- Authors clearly specify which stages of the analysis or interpretation involved AI
- Authors provide a clear justification for the use of AI
- The use of AI is explicitly stated in the Methods section and/or Acknowledgements
2. Prohibited Uses
The use of AI is strictly prohibited in the following circumstances:
a. Copy-writing
AI must not be used to generate or write manuscript content in a way that replaces the intellectual contribution of the author(s).
b. Research misconduct
Authors are strictly prohibited from:
- Fabricating data (i.e., creating non-existent data or research results)
- Falsifying data (i.e., manipulating data, images, graphs, or findings)
- Producing any content that does not accurately reflect the actual research process
3. Declaration of AI Use
a. Mandatory disclosure
Authors must provide an explicit declaration of any AI usage at the time of manuscript submission.
b. Publication transparency
The AI usage statement will be included in the published article, particularly in the Methods section and/or Acknowledgements.
Example statement (Acknowledgements):
“The author(s) used [name of AI tool] as a tool for [e.g., grammar correction, language editing, or data interpretation] to improve manuscript readability, ensure writing consistency, and support preliminary data analysis. All processes were conducted under the full supervision of the author(s), who remain fully responsible for the intellectual content of this work.”
4. Transparency and Accountability
a. Scientific integrity
All data, findings, and analyses presented in the manuscript must:
- Be scientifically verifiable
- Reflect accountable and ethical research practices
b. Verification requirements
If editors or reviewers raise concerns regarding manuscript authenticity, authors must provide supporting documentation, including:
- Raw data
- Manuscript revision history
- Records of AI tool usage
- Data sources or other evidence supporting the originality of the work
5. Sanctions for Violations
Any violation of this policy will be considered academic misconduct and may result in:
- Manuscript withdrawal
- Rejection for publication
- Formal notification to the author(s)’ affiliated institution
6. Editorial Procedures for AI Use Verification
The editorial team of PJK will implement the following procedures:
a. Declaration verification
Verify whether authors have explicitly declared AI usage during manuscript submission.
b. Compliance assessment
Assess whether the declared AI use complies with the journal’s policy.
c. Further verification (if needed)
In cases of doubt regarding authenticity or AI use, the editorial team may request additional documentation, including:
- Manuscript revision history
- AI usage logs
- Raw research data
